Large-format printing requires large-format printing methods, and in the construction, architecture computer-aided design (CAD) trades the need for reliable, state-of-the-art, large-format printing devices has never been greater. This is where HP has built a foundation of plotter printers that builders and contractors have depended on for high-quality, accurate, large-format computer-aided designs.

In this article, we will be going through just some of the HP A1/A0 plotter devices we sell and give you a comprehensive look at what CAD plotters can do, that a normal printer cannot.

What is a plotter, and why are they specific to CAD industries?! Well, in short, a Plotter is a type of large-format printer that uses specific software like CAD or schematic programs to render highly detailed designs to large reels of paper.

Originally, a plotter would use a pen-style mechanism to draw directly to the paper, in contrast with modern HP plotters which use Inkjet technology to apply pressurised ink more accurately to different printing substrates.

The main differences in our range of plotters are sizes and features, with price being reflective of this, with the HP DesignJet T230 claiming the title of the world’s smallest plotter at 38% smaller compared to competitive alternatives with comparable sizes. The T230 is an A1 plotter giving you 24 inches of roll capacity and providing ample room for many blueprints.

On the other end of the size spectrum is our HP T830 A0 Multifunction Plotter with its dimensions coming in at a grand 1403 x 629 x 1155mm with a roll capacity of 36 inches. with its all-in-one scan, print, and copy functions the T830 is a highly versatile device ready for any project.

With A1/A0 plotters size matters, as trade and CAD industries rely on large-format, accurate visual references for planning and delivery of projects. Printing in such a large format allows for greater detail to be applied to designs enabling architects, builders, and electricians to work to precise measurements and scales.

With investing in new technology, we understand that price can be a major factor, and with large format printers, the price can reflect the features of the device. At Office Printers Direct we understand that this can be a hurdle when acquiring such devices. We saw a need for ‘budget’ devices that get straight to the point. Our T230 and T250 devices do exactly that.

The T230 is a 24inch A1 plotter with a print speed of 35 sec per page on A1. With various interface modes, it’s a ‘do what you ask, when you ask’ device with a price to match.

The T250 is the not-so-big brother to the T230, with a quicker print speed at 30 sec per page and a longer warranty at just £699, it’s a dependable device for any budget.

Both machines have an impeccable print resolution at 2400 x 1200 DPI, giving you the best print results every time.
